14th Anniversary of Liberation (War Victims Semi-Postals surcharged)



SURCHARGED VETERANS SEMI-POSTAL STAMPS
On the 14th Anniversary of the Liberation of Manila from the Japanese Occupation. Surcharged 1 centavo on 2 plus 2 and 6 centavos on 4 plus 4 to provide more 1 and 6 centavo values needed in implementing the new postal rate, these stamps were issued.

Anti-TB Semi-Postals (Quezon Institute)

This is the First Issue of the Anti-TB Semi-Postal Series. The 5-centavo surtax from the sale of these stamps were expended by The Philippine Tubercolosis Society in carrying out charitable services.

Between 1958 and 1974, a 5-centavo anti-TB stamp was compulsory on all mail matters from Aug 19-Sept 30, as provided for in Republic Act No. 1635. On Aug 14, 1974, this was repealed and use of the stamps became voluntary. Later, the surtax was considered as regular postage.
